Exclusive Resorts, the leader among luxury destination clubs, is further strengthening its golf amenities and services for its members through a partnership with legendary golfer, Jack Nicklaus, and the world's leading golf course design firm, Nicklaus Design. At home with Creole

No one is sure exactly when it happens, but after the meeting porcelain has been collected, corporate Mauritians, masters of linguistic osmosis with their eloquent French and English, throw off the powdered wigs of formality and "get down" in Creole.

It's the language that binds Mauritians so to speak and it is uniquely theirs, no matter what linguists say. Over 71% of the Mauritian population considered Creole as their "mother tongue" according to the 2000 census and it has grown since then. And it's not to be confused with a dialect either. Creole is a language based on two parent languages but it has so many distinctive features that haven't been inherited from either parent language. A dialect is something that develops from only one language according to the Concise Oxford Dictionary.

Port City CafŽ offers home-style foods

"This smells like my Mama's house on Saturday morning," mused Smith, dressed in waders and other gear to protect against Katrina debris shrouding much of downtown Gulfport.

Ernest Ulrich loves to tell the story because it hits home, reflecting his restaurant's philosophy of hearty home cooking with regional flare (i.e. gumbo) tossed in the menu mix. His lunch plate beef stew and roasted chicken and his breakfast plates, with grits of course, are customer favorites because of freshness, price and quantity.

But that's not the crux of the post-Katrina Port City story. What impressed Smith, other journalists and volunteers who waded through the debris in the weeks after the hurricane is the simple fact that Ulrich was open at all.

"We were probably the luckiest business south of the railroad tracks," said Ulrich.

UPDATE 1-Winn-Dixie files plan of reorganization

CHICAGO, June 29 (Reuters) - Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. (WNDXQ.PK: Quote, Profile, Research), a grocer operating under bankruptcy protection, on Thursday said it has filed a proposed reorganization plan with U.S. bankruptcy court and is positioned to emerge from Chapter 11 protection as soon as late October.

Under the proposed plan, Winn-Dixie's current shareholders will not receive any distributions once the company emerges from bankruptcy protection.

Shares of Winn-Dixie fell 40 percent in morning trading.

The company also said it received a commitment for up to $725 million in exit financing from Wachovia Bank.

Winn-Dixie filed for protection from creditors in February 2005, after losing market share to rivals such as Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and privately held Publix Super Markets.

Acting COB head honoured

Acting President of The College of The Bahamas (COB), Dr Rhonda Chipman-Johnson was lauded by the college's Alumni Association for her heroic work in bringing stability to the changing institution over the past year.

"The College of The Bahamas has been going through some challenging times especially over the last twelve months, but Dr Chipman-Johnson has, nonetheless, manned this ship to safe port."

Basketball: Argentina earns spot in medal round

As the poster boy of Argentine basketball, Spurs star Manu Ginobili mentors his country's younger players through a regular, sometimes daily, series of e-mails.

Most offer encouragement and advice. The batch leading up to the FIBA Americas Under-18 Championship for Men also contained a request: Don't let me down in my adopted hometown.

With the favored United States watching closely from the stands, Argentina did its hoops role model proud, fighting off a determined Puerto Rico team 79-77 Thursday at Greehey Arena.

"It's an honor to play in the same city as Manu," said point guard Diego Gerbaudo, who had 18 points and nine assists. "We're very appreciative of everything he does for us. He's opened a big door for us in Argentina."

In addition to advancing to the medal round, Argentina (2-0) qualified for the 2007 FIBA U-19 World Championships.
