cheap bahamas vacationsBahama Islands News, Articles and InformationCompressed natural gas should replace LPGSome eight weeks past, in the middle of the Lenten season I wrote, what I thought at the time, would be my last missive on LNG.I became quite excited some two weeks afterwards when my good friend and classmate of six -plus years, the Minister responsible for energy and the environment (whose portfolio does not include LNG, which apparently has been deemed to be closer akin to fish or fowl than to energy or the environment), made an announcement indicating that Government would issue a definitive statement on the matter in short order. Two weeks later the Prime Minister announced to the nation that the government had made a policy decision that it is not opposed to LNG and that LNG "can happen in the country". That was a month ago. Since then an eerie silence has prevailed. In my prior article I touted the possibility of compressed natural gas (CNG) completely displacing propane (LPG or cooking gas if you will) for domestic and commercial cooking throughout the country, and at significant cost saving to users, once an LNG facility is established.
New program couples sailing and scienceChewonki's Gulf of Maine Sailing Expedition on the Grand Chat will set sail this summer for the very first time on a journey that combines the best of Maine Coast sailing with scientific monitoring.
The expedition departs on June 28 from Portsmouth, N.H., and will circumnavigate the Gulf of Maine during the sailing season ending in Passamaquoddy Bay in mid-August.
The Chat is a fast, yet stable auxiliary powered sailboat that can carry six guests and two crewmembers for each leg of the expedition. The voyage provides an opportunity to become a "citizen scientist," participating in important monitoring work, fast sailing, and the best of Maine's culinary harvest when the anchor is down.
"Expedition members will get to experience the Gulf of Maine from both a scientific and an adventure perspective," says Peter Arnold, who designed the program for Chewonki.

The demise of the CDRThe demise of the Coalition for Democratic Reform (CDR), which officially became a fact last Sunday when its leaders announced that they had joined the opposition Free National Movement (FNM), once again demonstrated the futility of attempting to establish a third political party as a viable entity capable of generating sufficient support among the electorate to possibly become the governing party in The Bahamas.Actually, any hope that the CDR had to continue to seriously pursue this elusive goal dissipated last November when its principal founder, Dr. Bernard Nottage, returned to the Progressive Liberal Party, which he left after a bitter fight for the leadership against current Prime Minister Perry Christie. Considered by many to be one of the most capable politicians in the country, Dr.
