Atlantis BahamasBahama Islands News, Articles and InformationPokerStars Qualifiers For Caribbean AdventureQualifying tournaments are underway at PokerStars.com for poker players to win their way into the PokerStars.com Caribbean Adventure. The Caribbean Adventure is an official World Poker Tour (WPT) Season 5 event that will award one player with more than $1 million.The Caribbean Adventure will take place at the Atlantis Resort and Casino in the Bahamas Jan. 4-11. The buy-in is $7,800 + $200, or for as little as $2 players can win their way into this WPT Season 5 event through satellite tournaments at PokerStars.com. There will also be some free satellites that players can enter using player points as well as special VIP tournaments to win prize packages to the Caribbean Adventure. The prize package will include the buy-in for the event plus $3,000 for accommodations and meals, and $1,000 credited to the player's PokerStars.com account. Atlantis mourns 'Butch'Time seemed to have stopped in the Atlantis Crown Ballroom as friends and family members from around The Bahamas and the world gathered to pay tribute to the life of international developer Howard Kerzner.Grief-stricken family and friends of 'Butch', as he was affectionately called, could not hide their pain as they mourned the loss of "the face of the future." The 42-year-old hotel and resort tycoon was killed, along with three others, on October 11 when the Robinson 44 helicopter in which they were travelling crashed into a building on The Dominican Republic's north coast. Prime Minister Perry Christie said he now has to share in the unexpected and untimely end of a man who was widely loved and regarded as a beacon of the future. "Such is the loss of Howard 'Butch' Kerzner, gone too soon," he sombrely said.
Atlantis resort makes a splashThe over-the-top Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas has added another famous New York restaurant to its culinary roster. Manhattan's popular Nobu joins Jean-Georges and Carmines at the water-themed resort. Still to come is Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill. Its the first time the celebrity chef takes his southwestern cuisine outside of the United States. Mesa Grill will be a cornerstone of a new all-suite oceanfront resort currently under construction. When it opens in March of 2007, The Cove will offer 600 suites, a private beach club and adult-only pool, all designed by acclaimed interior architect David Rockwell. .A Player's Dream VacationWhat is your dream vacation spot? In this week's Bills Journal Bob posed that very question to the players."My dream vaction would probably be somewhere in the Carribean Islands. Seven days of straight golf and eating good," linebacker Angelo Crowell said. "They've got a resort in the Bahamas called Atlantis. I would like to go to New Zealand but I would have to, my wife would not get on a flight for that long. That's a long flight so I don't think we would do that but she would do the Bahamas and Atlantis," explained backup quarterback Kelly Holcomb. "My dream vacation would be go to Italy because that's where my family is from. That's where my grandparents are from. I'd love to see where they grew up and I'd love to see all the history behind the city where they grew up Cassino Italy," linebacker John DiGiorgio said.
