This period is the second month of Darden's fiscal 2007 second quarter.Same-restaurant sales at Olive Garden increased 1% to 2% for fiscal October, which reflected a 1% to 2% increase in check average and no change in guest counts. The check average increase was a result of an approximate 2% increase in pricing and a 0% to 1% decrease from menu mix changes. Last year, Olive Garden had an 8% to 9% increase in same-restaurant sales. Same-restaurant sales at Red Lobster decreased 0% to 1% for fiscal October, which reflected an approximate 2% decrease in guest counts and a 1% to 2% increase in check average.
'My Caribbean' — Essay awards ceremony highlights third day of ...A special segment of the Caribbean Tourism Confer-ence (CTC) was held yesterday when focus was placed on the creative achievements of its more youthful delegates, who participated in the 14th annual 'My Caribbean' essay awards ceremony.The ceremony kicked off activities for day three of the conference being held at the Our Lucaya Convention Centre in Freeport. The competition sponsored by Conde Nest Traveler magazine was entitled, "Imagine that you are a travelling journalist" and the young competitors were encouraged to creatively describe their home land in a fictitious article filled with fun facts about their country. Editor-in- Chief of Conde Nest Traveler Klara Glowc-zewska explained that this year, students from 26 Caribbean countries participated in the competition, 25 of whom attended the awards ceremony.
