Bout Of Pnemonia Forces Anna Nicole To Be Admitted To Hospital

Nassau, Bahamas (BANG) - Everything just keeps piling on top of each other for Anna Nicole Smith and it doesn't seem like it's going to stop anytime soon. The former Playboy Playmate was recently admitted to the hospital on Tuesday with pneumonia.

The former model was taken to the hospital in the Bahamas as a precautionary measure as she recently gave birth.

Her new attorney, Wayne Munroe, said, "She has a slight case of pneumonia. We've had a sudden change of weather here due to a cold snap."

Before she became ill, the 38-year-old spoke out for the first time about the death of her son Daniel, who passed away at her bedside in September shortly after the birth of her new daughter Dannie Lynn.

Anna Nicole says she would have died in order for her 20-year-old son to live.

BMMS to visit Nassau

The Society of Bahamian Merchant Mariners, a recently established group of Bahamian students studying at the State University of New York Maritime College, will host a two-day recruitment drive at the British Colonial Hilton this week.

Twelve of the society's members will travel to Nassau on Wednesday on a mission to inform high school students who are interested in the maritime industry of the educational opportunities available to them, particularly at SUNY Maritime.

Society members will give presentations on Thursday and Friday to 100 ninth through twelfth grade students from the Bahamas Maritime Cadet Corps (BMCC). The cadet corps, chaired by Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) board director, Dudley Martinborough, is a BMA programme.

"Our goal is to get 400 applications in and to find a minimum of 20 (students) interested in attending the school," said the Society's president and founder, Rebecca-Ann Darling, on Sunday at the College.

Anna Nicole in flap over Bahamas home

NASSAU, Bahamas, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Authorities in the Bahamas are investigating just who owns the home where Anna Nicole Smith has been living and her residency status.

Immigration Minister Shane Gibson told lawmakers Wednesday night officials were looking into claims an American developer is the real owner of the estate where Smith has been ensconced.

Thursday's Bahamas Journal reports developer Ben Thompson of South Carolina is fighting with Smith over ownership. The pair had a brief relationship last year and now Smith is claiming he had given her the home. Thompson says he did so with the understanding Smith would buy the property from him, and now he wants her to move out.

The flap comes as the Bahamian government investigates the untimely death of Smith's son, and faces political flak for the relatively short time it took Smith to obtain permanent residency in the Bahamas.
