Baptist Women unite in prayerBaptist church women across the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America and the South West Pacific are joining hearts and voices for one day of prayer.Baptist Women's World Day of Prayer was started in 1948 and is held every year by the Baptist World Alliance (BWA) Women's Department on the first Monday in November. The event will be held in all Baptist churches of the Grand Bahama district on Monday, November 6, at 7:30 p.m. under the theme: "Seeing with new eyes." Valurine Bain-Pinder, BWA President for the Grand Bahama district revealed that women throughout the seven continental unions are coming on one accord. In the Caribbean, the focus is being placed on abused children, their abusers, violence against women, those guilty of such violence, AIDS, the HIV epidemic throughout the islands and the rest of the world, and the victims of hurricanes and other natural disasters.
Your passport to vacation savingsA new regulation that will effectively require passports for most U.S. travelers to the Caribbean is having a surprising impact on the winter getaway season that starts next month.Fearful that Americans without passports will stay home or go elsewhere, Caribbean resorts are rolling out some unusual extra incentives. The Westin and Sheraton resort on Grand Bahama is offering a $100 credit to guests who have recently purchased a U.S. passport. On St. Kitts, the Frigate Bay Resort is cutting 20 percent off some guests' tabs, while the Boardwalk Boutique Hotel in Aruba is offering a $50 rental-car voucher. Similar deals are popping up at resorts from Jamaica to the Dominican Republic. Starting Jan. 8, U.S. citizens returning from the Caribbean must have a passport to re-enter the country.
Ricky Skerritt elected fourth VP of CTO(CUOPM) – St. Kitts/Nevis Minister of State for Tourism, Sports and Culture, Sen. Richard Skerritt, has been elected 3rd Vice President of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO).Minister Skerritt was appointed to the Cabinet of St. Kitts/Nevis in October 2004. His election to the CTO Board took place at the 46th meeting of the CTO Board of Directors in the Bahamas. Minister of Tourism for St. Lucia and the 1st Vice Chairman of CTO since October 2004, Philip J. Pierre, was elected Chairman at CTC-29. Commissioner of Tourism for the United States Virgin Islands (USVI), and CTO Chairman for the past two years, Pamela C.
