Column: The rose-breasted grosbeakAs we stroll into summer I'm pleased to see that one of the more regular visitors to our bird feeders is rose-breasted grosbeaks. From dawn to dusk it's a rare moment when there's not at least one rosie sitting with utmost dignity on the sunflower seed feeder. I think the males with their black and white tuxes and rosy pink ties are one of our prettiest, most elegant looking birds. Their rose colored bib varies in size and shape which helps identify individual birds. Equally specific is their white wing spots. No two seem to be alike. The females, on the other hand, completely missed the pretty boat. Their tie-dyed garb of browns and tans are almost embarrassingly drab. .7 arrested in alleged plot against Chicago Sears TowerMIAMI (AP) - Seven people were arrested Thursday in connection with the early stages of a plot to attack Chicago's Sears Tower and other buildings in the United States, including the FBI office in Miami, a U.S. government law-enforcement official said.As part of the raids related to the arrests, FBI agents swarmed a warehouse in Miami's Liberty City area, using a blowtorch to take off a metal door. A neighbour said the suspects had been sleeping in the warehouse while running what seemed to be a "military boot camp." The official said the alleged plotters were mainly Americans with no apparent ties to al-Qaida or other foreign terrorist organizations. He spoke on condition of anonymity so as not to pre-empt news conferences planned for Friday in Washington and Miami.
